With a 20-14 win over Mineola, the Friends Academy football team advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2000. It was a big moment for the football program as well as the entire community. The team finished with an impressive record of 5-3, which was enough to clinch the playoff berth, as well as many individual players having great seasons. Quarterback Corey Goldglit finished with an impressive 998 passing yards on the season as well as 404 rushing yards in addition to 19 total touchdowns. Jalijah Daniels finished with 7 total touchdowns and JD Baptiste finished the season with 5. The team’s captains this year were seniors Jalijah Daniels, Corey Goldglit, Nate Tyson, and Max Sutherland. Friends Academy finished in 7th place in the conference and will face Seaford in a playoff game on Saturday November 7th. The Quakers finished their season on an impressive 2 game win streak cementing themselves as a legitimate contender to knock off some teams in the playoffs. The team’s fight and desire to win games is admirable and they made the entire community proud. That is why the football team has won the honor of the top sports moment of the fall.
