2013 Friends baseball preview

In 2013 Friends Academy is looking to bounce back from a poor 2012 season with only 4 wins. Friends Academy baseball has a lot to look forward to. This team has many young players along with only graduating 2 players last year. Many of the players are very excited for this season and have many high hopes.

Head Coach, Marshal Linder, preaches to his team every day telling them that they are a better team than last year. He is very confident in his team and is even hoping to win a conference championship this year something that has not been done in Friends Academy Baseball since 2005. He feels that winning a conference is a harder achievement than winning states so he encourages his team to achieve the greatest goal because he thinks they are good enough.

Friends Academy’s powerhouse line up is centered around senior Alek Kucich. Not only does he hit for average but also he can hit for plenty of power. Along with his tremendous hitting he is an excellent defensive catcher, probably the best in the league and an impressive base runner. After talking to him, he told me “I think that our team is young but very eager to win and get better and from the words of Bane: the fire rises.”

This preseason friends has played 5 scrimmages and impressively won them all without breaking a sweat. They beat opponents like rival Glen Cove, conference opponent locust valley, and higher seeded Great Neck South. Friends Academy is the team to beat this year coming in strong to the real season and winning their first game in blowout fashion. At the end of this season they will be graduating 6 seniors, 3 of which are starters so this is their best shot to make a run at the championships. They are projected to be an exciting team to watch this year so be prepared for an eventful season from Friends Academy Baseball.
