“Champions for Charity”

During the weekend of December 1st-3rd, the Americana Manhasset and Wheatley Plaza shopping centers are hosting the 16th annual “Champions for Charity” event. There are 90 non-profit organizations that benefit from this fundraiser, including Friends Academy’s own Diversity Grant Fund. Members of the FA community, along with the general public, can participate by registering for a special Champion Card to use at the event. The Diversity Club respectfully requests that people select its Grant Fund as their charity of choice. Twenty-five percent of the money spent will go to this worthy cause, and any sized contribution is greatly appreciated.

The Diversity Grant Fund has been extremely successful in distributing financial aid to members of the school who apply for monetary assistance for expenses that include “art supplies, AP tests, calculators, musical instruments and Driver’s Education,” said Sophie Fritz ’12, the President of the Diversity Committee. Requests are anonymous and never denied. The fund supports the Diversity Club’s idea of equal opportunity for all. By creating this financial resource, the Club is making progress in preventing the exclusion of those who cannot afford certain necessities of an FA student.

The “Champions for Charity” weekend is an event that many meaningful organizations greatly profit from. Please consider participating and share information about it with friends and family!
